Cheltenham Gold Cup day, March 14th 2008, pictured with Best Mate, one of Phillip’s sporting heroes and winner of the Gold Cup in 2002/3/4. We were there to see Kauto Star, his greatest equine sporting hero, attempt to retain his Cheltenham championship. Unfortunately Kauto finished a gallant second that year to his stablemate Denman, but we returned in 2009 when Phillip was overjoyed, with an enthusiasm only he could display, when Kauto regained his crown, trouncing Denman in the process.
