Phillip started working for BT in September 1997 as an engineer in the Rhondda valleys. He really enjoyed his job and the people he worked with, and the same can be said of his whole career with BT. We moved to Reading in 2001 for my job and Wokingham in 2002 where we bought our first house. Phillip transferred within BT and quickly started to gain experience of covering for his manager, which made him want to pursue a management position. We enjoyed our 3½ years in Berkshire and didn’t want to leave, but decided to return home to South Wales in 2005 to start a family. We moved to our current home in Newport when we returned and Phillip soon moved from engineering to a management position in BT. He was an Operations Manager in ‘Complex’ in Cardiff and moved back to ‘Volume’ in Newport – only his work colleagues from BT will understand those terms, and maybe their better halves.
