University

1992 October - 1996 July

In 1991 Phillip went to John Moore’s University in Liverpool to study on a foundation course, followed by a degree in Electrical and Electronic engineering. He qualified in 1996. He obviously chose Liverpool so that he could get to as many Liverpool games as possible. Between 1993 and 1996 we travelled back and forth between Liverpool and Leeds (where I was studying). It’s fair to say that Phillip played hard during those years, but didn’t exactly work hard, and often spent more time in Leeds than Liverpool – he certainly made the most of his university years and we have very fond memories of our time together in both cities. Our favourite haunt in Liverpool was the Albert Dock. I can remember one Sunday when we were waiting for the pubs to open (remember those days!), we couldn't understand why they were taking so long - the clocks had changed and we hadn't realised. So we took a very cold ferry trip on the Mersey to kill some time. During Phillip's last year in Liverpool he had a flat on Prescot Road, above an off licence (very convenient). There was a drive by shooting just outside one evening. Ah, the highs and lows of university! We hated being apart during our time at uni but it made reuniting that much sweeter, and we always knew we would still be together at the end of our time there - it's what kept us going.
